Reply Chris Hoffman September 29, 2012 at 12:17 pm It's not necessarily useless -- proper backups are better but for the average user's computer without backups, it can fix some problems. I was able to find an old win 7 cd and boot to it.. However, problems associated with the System File Checker are also associated with DISM. If the Startup Repair tool determines this, it may automatically run the the repair after your computer restarts.
